What is Nord-Lock® and why choose it?
Nord-Lock® is the world’s leading manufacturer of anti-loosening solutions for industrial fasteners. Developed in Sweden in 1982, its wedge-locking technology prevents bolted joints from loosening, even under the most severe vibration and dynamic loads.
The technical difference compared to other solutions is mechanical: while serrated washers, nylon-insert lock nuts and split lock washers rely on friction to maintain clamp load, Nord-Lock® washers use a wedge geometry that actively increases the clamp load if the bolt tries to rotate loose. This difference is what has made Nord-Lock® the benchmark in industries where bolted joint failure is unacceptable.
The Junker test (according to DIN 65151) is the industry’s most demanding test for bolted joints subjected to transverse vibration. Results published by Nord-Lock® show that its technology maintains clamp load while other solutions lose it rapidly. Nord-Lock® Original Washers
Nord-Lock® Original Washers are the globally proven solution for securing bolted joints exposed to severe vibration and dynamic loads. Each washer pair works with opposing wedge faces and serrations that grip the mating surfaces, engaging the mechanical wedge-locking effect.
Available variants:
- Standard: standard outer diameter, suitable for most industrial applications.
- SP Washers: enlarged outer diameter, designed for flange bolts and nuts according to ISO 4161 and ISO 4162, oversized and slotted holes, and sensitive surfaces.
- Black finish: for environments where aesthetics or visual identification are additional requirements.
Available materials: standard steel with a high corrosion-resistant coating (minimum 1,000 hours salt spray according to ISO 9227), stainless steel (A4-80), and special alloys for corrosive, acidic or high-temperature environments (Alloy 254 SMO, Hastelloy C-276, Inconel 718).
Sizes: from M3 to M76 in the standard range, in metric and imperial dimensions. Custom sizes available on request.

Nord-Lock® Wheel Nuts
Nord-Lock® Wheel Nuts are designed for heavy commercial vehicles with flat-faced steel rims. Each nut has a pair of Nord-Lock® wedge-locking washers permanently attached, ensuring secure wheel retention even under the most demanding operating conditions.
Applications:
- Heavy on-road vehicles: trucks, buses, trailers.
- Off-road vehicles: tractors and agricultural, forestry, mining and military machinery.
Available sizes: M16 to M24.
Corrosion resistance: minimum 600 hours salt spray according to ISO 9227.
Key features: easy installation and removal with hand tools, pre-lubricated, reusable (depending on operating conditions). They reduce the risk of accidents and lower operating costs from unscheduled maintenance.
Nord-Lock® Combi Nuts
Nord-Lock® Combi Nuts combine a conventional nut with a captive pair of Nord-Lock® washers, offering faster assembly, fewer installation errors and simplified removal and refitting during maintenance.
Ideal applications:
